No one knows for sure why some mothers-to-be feel so nauseated and sensitive to smells and noise in the early months of pregnancy. However, morning sickness can be treated easily with home remedies. Let’s find out how to get rid of morning sickness with safe and simple home remedies.

Track down and avoid the triggers

Pregnancy hormones can make some women highly sensitive to smells, lights, or even sounds, strange! If you are one of them, it is recommended to track down the things that trigger nausea. Pay close attention to the timings, what time, in particular, your nausea heightens? Also, notice if certain smells or odor rouse your queasy feelings.

It could be the smell of a certain ingredient, like garlic or a perfume which you normally love. Anything can make you feel queasy. Sometimes an empty stomach can also act as a trigger for morning sickness and nausea. Look for all such triggers and once you know them cut them out as much as you can to avoid the discomfort of morning sickness.

Pay heed to your body’s call

It is common to have an urge for a particular food during pregnancy, which actually helps a bit to handle morning sickness, according to some. If you feel an inclination towards any food try it to see if it’s helpful for you.

Well, many women feel having unhealthy foods like cola, beverages, caffeine, and junk foods. You may be surprised to know that some women even crave for dirt and they can’t bear it without having it. Rest is crucial during pregnancy not to worn yourself down. Although it becomes more difficult as the time passes and the tummy gets bigger but aim to have at least 8 hours sleep during the night and a few naps during the daytime. But avoid naps right after eating something as it can worsen nausea.

It is true that your body needs rest but it doesn’t mean either that you need to rest all the time as some women go on bed rest once they knew they’re expecting. Remember the more active you will be during pregnancy the more chances of easy labor and normal delivery. So don’t think of pregnancy as a disease where you don’t suppose to do your household chores and normal routine work. Try to be active as much as you can and take pregnancy as a normal and beautiful part of life.

Stay hydrated

Hydration is so very important for your body functions to act normally but if you’re pregnant even more important. Dehydration during pregnancy can be fatal and the woman even needs to be hospitalized to be rehydrated intravenously.

The fluid requirement of a pregnant woman is more than otherwise, at least 10 glasses of fluids a day. It can be taken in form of fresh water, fresh fruit juices, and water filled fruits, like watermelon, cantaloupe, and grapes.

Not taking enough fluid can also lead to Oligohydramnios or abnormally small amount of amniotic fluid which is a condition that requires medical attention.

Eat Frequent small meals

The best way to minimize morning sickness is by eating healthy and in a healthy way. Eating too much at a time is the worst thing you can do to yourself if you’re already prone to nausea.

Try to incorporate smaller meals and frequently throughout the day, so that your stomach is not empty and you are not full at the same time, both of which worsen morning sickness. Instead of taking several big meals, eat smaller meals throughout the day. And when it comes to frequent small meals, it doesn’t mean either that you have to take proper food each time. You can incorporate fresh fruits, juices, vegetables in the form of salads, yogurt, as much as you can besides your regular foods to attain full benefits.

Pregnancy should be a high time to start eating healthy and skipping any unhealthy food options from your life. Knowing that you’re doing it for yourself and your baby will greatly help to stick to the cause.
