How To Get Rid Of Warts With Easy Home Remedies?

Dandelion

Dandelion has astonishing health benefits for a number of ailments including warts, corns and boils.

You will need

  • Fresh dandelion stem/flowers

Break the stem or the base of the flower to ooze the milky latex. Apply the latex frequently, at least twice or thrice a day for several weeks until the wart subsides.

Basil

Basil, a very aromatic herb used widely for culinary purpose is another great remedy to treat warts due to its antiviral properties.

You will need

  • Fresh basil leaves as required
  • Waterproof tape

Grind or crush the fresh leaves to make a paste. Every night before going to bed, apply this paste on the wart and cover with a waterproof tape. Remove in the morning and re-apply fresh basil paste every night for several days until the wart is dissolved.

Birch bark

Birch (betula) is considered an effective remedy to annihilate warts. The bark of birch has been extensively used in many developing countries including China for treating warts. Two main compounds, betulin and betulinic acid, found in birch bark have antiviral properties. Birch bark also contains salicylates which are also considered extremely beneficial to get rid of warts, and because of the presence of these important compounds, birch bark is approved by FDA for treatment of warts.

You will need

  • Fresh birch bark

If available, fresh birch bark is an ideal option. Just break a piece and lay the moistened inner side of the bark directly to the wart. Cover with a tape, only remove when taking a bath.re-apply fresh birch bark every day for several weeks.

  • Powdered birch bark 1 teaspoon
  • Water as required

If fresh birch bark is not accessible, you can opt for the powdered birch bark easily available at health stores. Put a teaspoon of the powder and add enough water to make a paste. For safe use, take a piece of adhesive tape and cut a small hole in the middle of the tape for the wart. Carefully apply the tape with the hole on the wart, so that the surrounding area left unaffected. Now apply the paste to the wart and tape it. Keep it for about an hour if no irritation occurs. Gradually increase the time each day until you come to an overnight time span.

Thuja essential oil

Thuja essential oil is an excellent remedy to dissolve wart so it can disappear. But be careful while using any essential oil on skin as it can burn the skin, so better mix it with olive oil or water.

You will need

  • Thuja essential oil 2 drops
  • Olive oil 1 drop
  • Adhesive tape

Combine together 2 drops of Thuja essential oil with a drop of olive oil. Mix very well. For safe use, take a piece of adhesive tape and cut a small hole in the middle of the tape for the wart. Carefully apply the tape with the hole on the wart, so that the surrounding area left unaffected when you apply the essential oil. Now apply the mixture (with a Q-tip) through the hole on the wart once daily until the wart dries up. Repeat the remedy for several weeks.

Many other essential oils such as oregano, lemon, tea tree, clove, lavender, eucalyptus, and frankincense are particularly beneficial to get rid of warts. Always apply essential oils with a clean Q-tip to avoid the spreading of the infection. Also remember to mix the essential oils with either a carrier oil or a cream or lotion to avoid any irritation or skin burn.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has powerful healing benefits-both internally and externally. Besides the anti-inflammatory properties of aloe, malic acid helps dissolve warts. Aloe can be used in both ways internally and externally to ward off warts. Consuming some aloe gel daily is a great way to boost the immune system and to keep the infections at bay.

You will need

  • Fresh Aloe Vera/commercial aloe Vera
  • Baking soda 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water 1 glass

Before applying aloe gel, prepare the wart by disinfecting and exposing the area. Make a solution by adding a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water. Saturate a cotton ball in the solution and clean the wart with it. Gently scarp the wart with a pumice stone to slough off the hard skin off wart.

If fresh aloe plant is available, break a leaf and cut a small piece. Remove the outer cover on one side of the aloe and put the gel side directly on the wart. Cover with a tape and leave it overnight. Repeat the procedure each night for several weeks until the wart sheds off.

If you have the commercial aloe gel, apply it directly to the wart several times a day for several weeks.

Onion

Onion works wonderfully well to get rid of warts due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Onions also contain trace amounts of essential polyphenols and sulphate glycosaminoglycan which add to its anti-viral, antiseptic and anti-microbial properties, and hence great for skin infections.

You will need

  • Onion 1
  • Salt/vinegar 3-4 tablespoons
  • Adhesive tape

Cut an onion and put 3-4 tablespoons of salt/vinegar. Let it rest overnight. For safe use, take a piece of adhesive tape and cut a small hole in the middle of the tape for the wart. Carefully apply the tape with the hole on the wart, so that the surrounding area left unaffected. Now apply the juice on wart twice or three times a day. Repeat the remedy for several weeks.

Castor oil

Castor oil not only caters many beauty ailments but is incredibly amazing to destroy warts due to its medicinal properties.

For remedy 1

You will need

  • Castor oil

Apply liberal amount of castor oil on the affected area every morning and at night before bed. You will see a noticeable decrease in the size of the wart and then it eventually disappear with regular application.

For remedy 2

You will need

  • Castor oil 3-4 drops
  • Baking soda 1-2 pinches

Combine castor oil and baking soda together to make a paste. Apply the paste on the wart and cover it with a waterproof tape overnight. Repeat the remedy every night for several weeks until the wart disappears.

Milk of milkweed

Milkweed is a poisonous plant which contains cardiac glycosides, proteolytic enzymes in its latex that are medicinally used for the treatment of heart diseases and is also used as a home remedy to dissolve a wart.

You will need

  • Fresh leaves of milkweed plant
  • Adhesive tape

Wash the area with warm water to kill any germs and to soften the wart. Scrap the wart a bit with a pumice stone to slough off the dead upper layer. For safe use, take a piece of adhesive tape and cut a small hole in the middle of the tape for the wart. Carefully apply the tape with the hole on the wart, so that the surrounding area left unaffected. Break few leaves and press the bottom of the stem to get the milk. Apply the milk directly on the wart. If any irritation occurs, wash it away and stop using it. Otherwise, apply twice or thrice daily for several weeks.

Note: Avoid milkweed latex get into eyes or any other part of the skin as it can cause an allergic reaction. Thoroughly wash your hands after handling the plant.
