Baking soda

Sodium bicarbonate or commonly known as baking soda can not only help remove stains, plaque, and discoloration from teeth but also combat bad breath. People who smoke often suffer from stained, and yellow teeth, baking soda is also an ideal remedy for the cause as it polishes teeth and gives an instant whitening effect.

Baking soda can be used to curb dental and gum problems like cavities and gingivitis. As it has an amazing ability to neutralize the pH level of the mouth which creates a hostile environment for bacteria and other infection causing organisms to survive; it really helps fight bad breath.  An important thing to remember is not to use baking soda too often as it can cause an irreversible damage to the enamel, the protective layer on teeth.

To fight off cigarette breath using baking soda mix a teaspoon in a glass of water. Use this mixture to gargle or swish around the mouth for a few minutes. Spit out into the sink. Wash your mouth after gargling or swishing.

Apple cider vinegar

Using apple cider vinegar is a great way to wipe out the smells of the cigarette smoke. Apple cider is so effective for oral hygiene that many people use it as a substitute mouthwash. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid and malic acid that inhibits plaque causing bacteria which help combats bad breath including cigarette breath.

Mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a cup of warm water. Use this mixture to gargle or swish around the mouth for a few minutes. Spit out into the sink. Wash your mouth after gargling or swishing with apple cider vinegar. Use apple cider vinegar that is raw, organic, unfiltered and unpasteurized for best results.

Chew some parsley

Parsley contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties which fight bacteria. The chlorophyll in Parsley helps neutralize and cure bad breath; it also stimulates the saliva flow which helps to eliminate bad breath including the one caused by cigarette smoke.

Always keep fresh parsley handy and chew some for 2-3 minutes after smoking. You can either swallow or spit them out to get rid of cigarette breath instantly.
